Is it possible to adapt every house design to the HBE system?
Yes, every house design can be adapted to the HBE system. An advantage of re-designing houses which were originally designed for the traditional brick / concrete construction method is the possibilty to increase the internal usable area. Such a possibility results from the 10 cm difference in wall thickness between these building systems. Traditional walls have two layers: 24 cm ceramic or concrete block and 12 cm of styrofoam. In the HBE system the thermal wool isolation layer is 15 cm thick, while the HBE load-bearing wall is only 10 cm. By re-designing the house we can adapt to the building’s external dimensions allowing an approx. 7% increase in usable floor area.
